Phitsanulok Thailand
One year ago I stumbled upon an opportunity to intern for a medical program called Gap Medics over seas. After waiting to go for what feels like a life time, Thailand is now fast approaching. I leave May 11th 2017 and will stay there for two weeks. This is an amazing opportunity to gain field experience in my desired profession as well as explore the culture in Thailand and meet new people from around the world that will be in my program with me.
What the trip looks like:
A Gap Medics placement offers me the opportunity to observe doctors and other healthcare professionals carrying out their daily routines in a close proximity. This is an amazing opportunity to learn about medicine in another culture. I will be in the hospital Monday through Friday shadowing about 23 hours per week. A member of Gap Medics staff will escort our group to the hospital and is always on hand to escort us and help us if we need them.
In my two weeks of placement I will receive global health tutorials three times a week to help me understand issues relevant to healthcare in Thailand and to really understand the social and economic factors behind what I will be seeing in the hospital. I will be staying in the Gap Medics house which they say is "incredibly secure." They have 24 hour security guards at the entrance at all times to ensure only Gap Medics staff and students can enter. The house has secure locks on the main doors. We will all have a Gap Medics bracelet on so the guards will be able to recognize us. Phitsanulok itself is a small and friendly town with low crime rates.
Cuisine:
In the evenings our chef prepares a buffet style dinner that we can help ourselves to along with Thai curries and regular BBQ's. (T-God if you know me) We will also be going and exploring Thailand in the evenings and eating out together.
Do I get to Have fun?
Gap Medics is an amazing program that wants us to experience everything we possibly can while we are abroad. There are an abundant amount of opportunities and things to do near our placement. Some which include going to an elephant sanctuary where we get to feed and bathe elephants that wonder freely. There are also many places to go shopping, explore national parks and even go zip lining!
How do I get there?
As you can imagine this trip is very costly and I will need all of the help I can get! With a cost break down I need:
$2700 for the trip deposit
$1800 for the flight
$150 for travel insurance
$50 dollars for scrubs
$100 luggage and Equipment

How to pray for me:
Money isn't the only important thing to send me on this trip! Another way to help me is to pray for me and my team for safe travels and that we all get fully funded to experience this trip of a lifetime. Pray that God will move and provide the funds for me to go on this trip He has given me the opportunity to go on. I believe that God will provide and know that I cannot do this alone. Not only do I need God's help, but I need yours as well! Prayer is a powerful thing, even more powerful than donations and it would mean a lot to me knowing that people are praying for me and this trip.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and learn about my trip and thank you even more for joining me on this journey if you decided to pray for me and/or donate!
